There’s a blog?

Well now there this. I’m planning on posting infrequently but I hope you’ll appreciate the updates. Read through the rest of the blog to see the kind of stuff I’ll be posting.

Upcoming Show

While plans are still in the works, it looks like I’ll have some of my work in the art show at Mile Hi Con. If you’ve been wanting a print of something specific, now is the time to mention it so I can make one for you. Mile Hi Con is the biggest literary sci-fi/fantasy con in the Denver area but has a lot of great crossover. It’s big enough to be worth the value but small enough to not get overwhelming. It is October 27-29, 2017 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in the Denver Tech Center.

DINK 2018

If you recall, I went to DINK last year and had a good time. Unfortunately it’s just not the right show for Mythdirection. DINK is focused more on the art and my comic is not fine art. Heck the jokes are pretty moldy. So I’ll be skipping it this coming year. I will probably instead try to go to MalCon in 2018 and probably an additional con (still researching).

Holy Cow

So Friday I posted this comic.

Cassini

In the Twitter link I tagged NASA. So sometime Friday ASAPScience found it and replied to it and then Matthew Inman found that tweet and replied with his own comic response.

As a little guy in the webcomic world having Matthew Inman (of The Oatmeal and Exploding Kittens fame) reply to me with a quick drawing had me over the moon.

I don’t know if he’ll ever know what that quick little drawing will mean to me but words fail to grasp how happy I was.

If you’re not familiar with The Oatmeal, this is my favorite one.

A Small Request

Two years and two months. 331 comics.

Some good, some bad but that’s a lot of work for something I thought I’d give up on several times. There are no plans to stop the comic but there are costs associated with it.

This morning the power cord on my ancient MacBook died. It’s the workhorse behind the comic. That was an $80 expense I was not planning for. Back in May I was laid off from a job of five years. At the end of the month I lose most of my benefits and at the end of October all of my benefits go away. I’m starting to panic a little bit. I’m working on getting some side projects up but there’s a couple of things you can do to help right now.

First check out my Patreon Page. Patreon lets you make a recurring payment to an artist in order to support them. For me it’s as little as a dollar a month but if you want to do more I have some additional benefits for supporting the comic.

You can also make a one time donation through PayPal by using the link,  https://www.paypal.me/mythdirection.

Patreon and donations first go to art supplies, hosting, and helping offset costs associated with going to conventions. As I’ll be sending off money for MileHiCon soon, donating helps me there too.

Of course if this is something you can’t do I totally get that. If you can’t, could you consider sharing this blog around instead?

Thanks for reading, now get back to whatever you were doing before this came across your screen.
